Since Collège Universel – Campus Gatineau is an institution subsidized by the Ministère de l’Enseignement Supérieur du Québec, you may be able to obtain, if you are eligible, government assistance in the form of loans and scholarships. 

The loans and scholarships program of the Ministère de l’Enseignement Supérieur du Québec allows students with insufficient funds to pursue full-time post-secondary studies in a college recognized by the Ministry.

Eligibility criteria

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or refugee
  • Reside or be deemed to reside in Quebec 
  • Be admitted to a recognized educational institution. Collège Universel – Gatineau is an institution recognized and subsidized by the Ministère de l’Enseignement Supérieur du Québec
  • Be admitted within the time period determined for the chosen program of study 
  • Have insufficient financial resources to pursue studies 
  • Be in full-time attendance at a recognized program of study or be deemed to be in full-time attendance at a recognized program of study 

How to apply for loans and scholarships

For the fall semester, you can apply for financial aid in May. You have a minimum of 60 days after the end of your last month of study of the year in question to submit your application for loans and bursaries. You can apply directly on the government website to follow the progress of your application in real time.

You can access a simulator that will give you an idea of the amount of money that could be granted to you under the loans and scholarships program by clicking on the following link: : 

– The steps to follow :

  • Complete the form
  • Submit the required documents.
  • Have one of your parents or your spouse complete the appropriate declaration(s). 
  • Send the following documents to the College :
    • The signed forms; 
    • Supporting documents (your permanent code must be written on each document). 

Deadline and response

To ensure a timely response, it is important that you make sure all required documents are submitted on time. It can take 4-6 weeks to receive a response. However, you can check the status of your application or the result online on the AFE website.

Once you receive a positive response from AFE, we invite you to pick up your guarantee certificate and register it at one of the recognized financial institutions.

Your financial aid will be disbursed as a loan to your bank account.
